B. Longacre after the painting by G. Stuart in first volume, marbled endpapers. The work was originally published in 1804-07 in 5 volumes with a separate atlas volume of 10 maps. The second edition was first published in 1832 and included the maps which are omitted in this later reprint. Sabin notes that the 2 edition does not include "the early Continental history."
