London: James Nisbet, 1861. Very scarce first edition. Green covers with gilt and gilt rules to upper board, bevelled edges, 319pp plus 12pp adverts. Engraved frontis, brown endpapers. General modest wear and rubbing to cover extrems, slightly more so to head and foot of spine, which is faded. Upper hinge cracked but holding well, ffep one-third detached and creased. Light water stain on frontis verso and noticeable on edge of frontis. Lower joint has 4cm split. Page edges dusty with a few marks. Facsimile edition of Mace's 1676 work (Vol I) "Musick's Monument; or a remembrancer of the best practical Musick, both divine, and civil, that has ever been known, to have been in the world." Fawn weave covers with brown lettering on spine and upper board, 272pp, one-page foreword in French. Book is very sound and internally clean and tight, but a drink spillage has left splash stains on upper board, dusty top page edges and a little on rear pastedown.
