Nadal was an occasional resident at author Upton Sinclair's Helicon Home Colony- an experimental community established in Englewood, New Jersey in 1906. The building burned down in 1907 and Nadal helped Sinclair save some of the residents- who jumped into a blanket held by the two men. Signed inscription from Nadal on the front endpaper: "Compliments of the Author, B.H. Nadal, Nat. Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park, N.Y." Also with a one-page autograph letter signed by Nadal laid in, on The National Arts Club stationery, no date but apparently to "Miss Wells"- with her name on a rather tattered envelope.
