New Castle, DE: Oak Knoll, 2001. Offprint, stapled, pp. 173-208. With 3 reproductions in the text. NOT ex-library! FASCINATING account of incunabula, medieval manuscripts, and early printed books collected by William Morris, and sold by his estate (through Thomas Chatto) to Richard Bennett of Manchester in 1897. Bennett kept the core of the collection for himself (subsequently sold to the Pierpont Morgan Library), while others were dispersed at auction. Paul Needham is a recognized authority on incunabula.

Paris: Didot jeune, 1796. FIRST EDITION. Hardcover. Very good. Octavo. 8 volumes in 7. With a frontispiece portrait by Saint Aubin in vol. 1 and another frontispiece portrait of the author (unsigned) in vol. 5. Traces of minor wear to bindings, some faint foxing. BOUND IN CONTEMPORARY FULL RED MOROCCO BY BOZERIAN, signed at the foot of the spine on vol. 1 "Rel. p[ar] Bozerien." The A.A. Renouard copy, bound by Bozerian, cited by Cohen-De Ricci, who described this set as "bel exemplaire... relie en 7 vol., maroquin rouge de Bozerian." The Emmanuel Martin sale catalogue (1877) describes this set as one of only four copies on "grand papier jesus velin." PROVENANCE: A.A. Renouard (sale 1854, lot 2462) -- Emmanuel Martin (sale 1877, lot 578). Both the Renouard and Martin sale catalogues state that this copy contained an original drawing of Nivernais by Saint Aubin, now no longer present (perhaps it was once pasted onto the first blank leaf, as something seems to have been removed from it).
