Inscribed and signed by the artist "To De de Dede / with love," in red ink, on the half-title, additionally dated. Small hole in backstrip; dust jacket with small hole in spine panel, minor closed tears at edges, faint scattered soiling, else fine. A collection of paintings by the popular sports artist featuring his impressions of the French capital, depicting an array of monuments, museums, nightlife, parks, and grand boulevards etc. A GI cook with the American First Army, Neiman took part in the liberation of Paris and returned many times, pen and paper in hand, to record the city's enduring charm. In fact, some of the most vibrant and pleasing reproductions in this lavish volume are pages from a sketchbook he worked in at "his" table at Fouquet's in 1991 and 1992.

Inscribed on the title in an unknown hand to M. Gortebeeck, as a "souvenir de la bonne et belle exécution" of the work on August 19, 1864 at the secondary school of Dendermonde, Belgium, where Gortebeeck was the director of the of the "Koninklijk Harmonieorkest Sint Cecilia." In original pink wrappers, reinforced with contemporary paper along the spine, spine chipped, handling wear and light staining around the edges, title and early page lower margins with evidence of (mostly cleaned) ink staining, a few pages quite toned, overall very good.  Sigismund Ritter von Neukomm was a composer and pianist, pupil of Haydn, teacher of Franz Xaver Mozart, and influential mediator between the Classical and the Romantic periods.

An ideal early and uninscribed signed 1962 promotional photograph of the iconic American actor and philanthropist, who has signed with his name alone in bold black ink "Paul Newman."  Slight wear to edges, overall in very fine condition.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).  Newman is shown posed with hands on his hips and shirt unbuttoned for his role in the 1962 drama film also starring Geraldine Page, Shirley Knight, Madeleine Sherwood, Ed Begley, Rip Torn and Mildred Dunnock. Based on the 1959 play of the same name by Tennessee Williams, it focuses on the relationship between a drifter and a faded movie star. Black and white photograph of Paul Newman with Walter Mondale, for whom the actor campaigned in his 1984 run for the Presidency. Inscribed in blue ink 'To Paul-with Admiration' and signed "W.F." by the 42nd vice president of the United States from 1977 to 1981 under President Jimmy Carter. 8 x 10 inches, in fine condition.

Autograph musical score for the important Danish composer's Praeludio e Presto for solo violin, apparently in the hand of Nielsen's son-in-law and the dedicatee of the work, Hungarian violinist Emil Telmányi. Dated March 28, 1928. Neatly copied with performance notes in Danish, German, and English, this copy may have been intended for a publisher. Written in ink, with corrections in pencil throughout, including performance notes (and one version of the title) struck though on the first page, added dynamics, and changed fingerings. Folio. 9 pp, pages loosely sewn with a split to the spine crease, with toning and a slight folding crease, but overall highly legible and in fine condition.Provenance: Descendants of the Hungarian violinist Emil Telmányi (1892-1988).Telmányi was a family member and close friend of Nielsen, having married his daughter Anne Marie in 1918, and a proponent of his works, leaving several authoritative recordings. Used; Like New/Used; Like New. Vintage photograph of the great dancer printed on matte photo paper stock, apparently a photograph of a laid down trimmed program photograph. Probably printed ca. 1940s but undated. Corners perished, edges chipped and torn, image itself in good shape. 8 x 10 inches (21 x 27 cm).Nijinsky is shown as he appeared in the historic first production of Fokine's Les Sylphides by Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, premiered 2 June 1909 at Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, together with Tamara Karsavina, Anna Pavlova, and Alexandra Baldina. The ballet, described as a "romantic reverie", is frequently cited as the first ballet to be simply about mood and dance.  Les Sylphides has no plot but instead consists of several white-clad sylphs dancing in the moonlight with the "poet" or "young man" dressed in white tights and a black tunic.

Signed promotional still from the 1957 Columbia film, a full-length portrait of the American actress scantily clad for a burlesque show.  Inscribed to Paul McMahon.  Copyright is "1957 Columbia Pictures," but the title of the film is not mentioned.  10 x 8 inches (25.5 x 20.4 cm).  Small tear to right margin; else in fine condition. Offered a choice for her next project, Novak selected the biopic Jeanne Eagles (1957), in which she portrayed the stage and silk-screen actress who was addicted to heroin.  Co-starring Jeff Chandler, the film was a largely fictional account of Eagels' life.  The film drew negative reviews but turned a profit at the box office. Used; Like New/Used; Like New. Original photograph by John Blomfield from a pas de deux in Marguerite and Armand of the most famous pairing of ballet dancers in the 1960s and 70s.  Signed by both.   8.75 x 7 inches (22.4 x 17.6 cm).  Small tear to left edge, else fine.Sir Frederick Ashton choreographed Marguerite and Armand for Fonteyn and Nureyev, which no other couple danced until the 21st century.  The 1963 premiere was well publicized before its opening and teamed them with Michael Somes, who played the disapproving father.  Composed as a series of pas de deux, interrupted by only one solo, the ballet built intensity from the initial coup de foudre to the death scene.  According to Somes, the pairing of Nureyev and Fonteyn was brilliant, as they were not partners but two stars of equal talent who pushed each other to their best performances.From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the… Read More

(87 cm.) high x 31 1/2 in. (80 cm.) wide x 31 in. (78.7 cm.) deep.
