His trainer said managing him was like holding a tiger by the tail. His owner compared him to "chain lightening". Jockeys found their lives transformed by him. Born in 1917, Man o' War was perhaps the greatest racehorse of all time. In this book the author tackles old beliefs with new evidence and shows how human pressures collided with a natural phenomenon. It reveals the courage of the horse and the temptations of the humans around him and how grace, disgrace and finally redemption were found.
