A VG (or slightly better) copy (gold stamping on spine panel a bit dulled) in like D/W which is priced 8s 6d net to the spine (as called for). The D/W is browned to the cream spine (as usual) with a lighter patch three-quarters of the way down where a label appears to have been removed by a former owner. The D/W is in near fine condition and is mildly faded but a lot of the colouring including that on the front panel is in pastel shades so not so stark. Basically a really nice copy. An attractive book-plate to the front past-down otherwise a near fine copy. The D/W is priced 7s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The D/W is VG indeed with just the merest hint of fraying at the spine tips. At the top right hand corner of the front panel (adjacent to the front flap) a former owner has injudiciously done an un-necessary tape repair to the verso which has resulted in glue residue (which just shows through to the front side of the D/W). Still an attractive copy of a scarce first edition with NO RESTORATION whatsoever. Each silver badge weighs 3 grams made of 999 pure silver and carries the images of the 5 mascots of the XXIX Beijing Olympiad. The medallion is made of bronze plated with silver and gold and carries the image of the logo of the XXIX Olympiad. An explanatory note in the album tells the background to the creation of the mascots and their significance to the Chinese people and its culture. This album was offered for sale in the Peoples Republic of China (during the Olympics) at Yuan 5,900 (approx. £600). I can find no other copies for sale on the www at this time.

Appears to be a first and all the previous titles on the half-title pre-date . No dustwrapper and the boards are marked/ worn hence Good only. Scarce. It was made into three feature films, the 1935 version having elements of horror to it. Universal Pictures were the same studio that produced Dracula/ Frankenstein and most of the other famous monsters of that era. The Great Impersonation is listed in "Universal Horrors", the ultimate guide to their horror/ sci-fi/ fantasy output so must be considered part of the cannon.
