Several b/w photos. 240 by 160mm (9œ by 6Œ inches).x, 230 pp. Very good. Both the book and the wrapper are in a very good condition. It has signs of previous use but overall is in tight condition. Although hidden, there is a small damp stain to the inside of the wrapper and corner of front board.

Internally clean and tidy, but with moderate foxing to the pages. Location markings, but no indication that this was a library book. 406. pp. 190 x 135 mm (7Âœ x 5ÂŒ inches). Probablement une Ă©dition française piratĂ©e (mĂȘme son nom Ă©tait mal orthographiĂ©). Toile avec dos et coins en bougran. Un peu abĂźmĂ©, mais tient bien. IntĂ©rieurement propre et bien rangĂ©, mais avec des rousseurs modĂ©rĂ©es sur les pages. Marques de localisation, mais aucune indication qu'il s'agissait d'un livre de bibliothĂšque. 406 pages. 190 by 135 mm.

London, 1844. A large Lithograph of a banquet for Daniel O'Connell. Chalk lithograph by an unknown engraver and publisher. C1844, Although not stated on the image, this almost certainly represents the banquet given in honour of O'Connell at the Covent Garden theatre on March 13th 1844. This was reported on in the Illustrated London News of the time, which bore a much smaller illustration. An article in the Times recorded that the dinner was given "to show," as the announcements expressed it, "the admiration entertained by Englishmen for his constant and consistent advocacy of the rights and privileges of Irishmen, for more than 40 years." This was a fascinating time in Irish Politics. Following the massive rallies and gatherings in Ireland to obtain the repeal of repressive legislation, O'Connell was arrested and charged with "creating discontent and disaffection" among the Queen's subjects. Cloth on boards with rubbed, and has a partial ownership stamp to front board. FFEP has a neat ex-libris. Otherwise inside book is very clean and tidy. 303 pages. 210 x 145 mm (8ÂŒ x 5Ÿ inches). MĂ­cheĂĄl Ó CoileĂĄin (Michael Collins) was an Irish revolutionary, soldier and politician. During the War of Independence he was Director of Intelligence of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), Chairman of the Provisional Government of the Irish Free State from January 1922 and commander-in-chief of the National Army from July until his death in an ambush in August 1922.

Dust jacket has some marks and is nicked to the head of the spine. Inside the book is clean, just basic shelf wear. Author signed dedication to FFEP. 168 pages. 200 x 145 mm (7Ÿ x 5Ÿ inches).

Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear: Erdesdun Pomes, 1976. Published in Conjunction with Ostrich by Erdesdun Pomes. Original yellow illustrated wrappers. Slightly soiled - a very good copy. The novel was produced as a fund raiser for the Tyneside Socialist Centre. O'Doherty is a writer, broadcaster and journalist from Donegal. He is based in Ulster. Raised as a Catholic, he has written for a variety of publications in Northern Ireland, and was a regular on Radio Ulster. Belfast story is not listed on his own website bibliography. 56 pages.

London: Information of the People, 1745. A nice copy of this first edition. Bound in (probably) 1960's half brown leather with gilt titles and with light brown buckram boards. A touch of rubbing only, otherwise in excellent condition. Internally clean and tidy with a touch of darkening only. To the inside board is the bookplate of the Writers Library in London. Despite its name, this library belonged to the Jesuit Mission in London and the bookplate bears their insignia. No other library marks. [xiv], 466 pages. 180 by 105mm (7 by 4Πinches).

Dublin: Brian O'Higgins, 1939. Scarce First edition. Soft cover. The front cover is an indication of the contents. With stories of 1848, but primarily of John Mitchel. Covers age toned. Staples rusting, but binding holding firm. Also contains some fascinating local Dublin advertising of the time. 98 [6] pp. 215 x 140 mm (8Âœ x 5Âœ inches). Brian O'Higgins was an Irish poet, writer and lifelong Republican (1882-1963). The Wolfe Tone Annual ran for about 30 years from 1932-1962); its purpose to help raise funds for Wolfe Tone commemorations. O'Higgins was one of the founders of Sinn FĂ©in, and used this publication to comment on recent history and current affairs. Censor authorities refused permission to publish the 1944 annual.

2003. Limited edition print # 33 of 50. Limited lithograph of a cellist by the German artist Aloys Ohlmann (1938 - 2013). The work is part of a 'Good luck for 2004' New Year message (in pencil) to a friend from the artist and his wife, Maria. Also inscribed in pencil on the reverse, with artist's stamp, framed under passe-partout and glass. Can be sold with or without frame. Postage costs will differ. 275 x 190 mm (10Ÿ x 7Âœ inches). Aloys Ohlmann studied at Werkkunstschule SaarbrĂŒcken; and was a co-founder of der Gruppe Sieben KĂŒnstlerforum Galerie in Zwinger.

London: John Murray, 1903. Scarce. First edition. Third novel by George Oliver Onions, who later wrote supernatural fiction, and the novella The Beckoning Fair One. Publisher's original green hardback boards. Boards are rubbed and stained, but binding is tight. A little foxing and finger marking throughout, and neat previous owner's name to FFEP. Last page has been partially cut, but is complete. Overall good. viii, 367 pages. 200 x 135 mm (7٠x 5Πinches).

New York: Douglass Howell, 1946. First edition. Soft paper covers (same paper as book). Browned to one edge. Small split to spine. An eight page poem folded. Marked as printer's copy of this first edition, which was limited to five-hundred copies. A very scarce item, with no other copies available online. Alice Orcutt later wrote several mystical and Jungian books. The printer / publisher, was Orcutt's husband Douglass Howell. 15 unnumbered pages. 210 x 180 mm (8Πx 7 inches).

Paris: BĂ©chet jeune, 1832. Half leather with marbled boards. Gilt titles to the spine. The hinges of the spine have a little cracking, but are still holding well. Marbled end papers. This is a "First Thus" and seems to be an expanded edition. Originally published by Bechet Jeune between 1823-26, this edition was published in 1832. In addition to the 21 numbered plates, there are 5 marked biz, plus engraved title, so a total of 27 plates. 7 of the plates are hand coloured. Curiously, every copy I have seen online has 7 hand coloured plates, presumably the same ones. The plates depict poisonous snakes, plants, fungi etc. Most of the pages are in very good condition. The title has a touch of darkening and staining to the corners. The first 12 plates have light staining (water?) to the spine edge, not affecting engraving. Antwerpiae [Antwerp] : Filios Martini Nutij, 1620. Folio. Two vols in 1. first edition of the second part by Sacchini; the first part, by Orlandini, was first published in 1614. These first two parts cover the history of the Jesuits until 1564; a further three parts were published later.With engraved title showing Ignatius and early members of the order. Carved woodcarving printer's mark at the end of part 1. There is a small library stamp to the title page for "Bibliotheca Historica A. Hamy." There is an ink annotation to the bottom edge of the title page dated 1657. (It would suggest that this volume was owned by a Franciscan monastery in France). Another stamp to the first leaf for "Collegium Angiense Societis Jesus" (Jesuits founded schools established on the principles of Ignatius and called them Collegium). Ymal Oswin is the author's maiden name and, the initials of her forenames: Yvonne Marie Aimee Lysette Oswin. 'Ymal' pronounced 'Yimal' being a schoolgirl nickname. Her married name was Wilson. However, she occasionally used the surname 'Atkin' too.Linen-backed red paper boards, covers a little spotted and marked, a very small marginal tear in one leaf, but overall a very good copy. Bookplate to the inside board from Syon Abbey. (Monasterii S. Birgittae de Sion, Chudleigh). (viii), 123, (i) pp. COPAC records the British Library as having a later copy, 1922; no other copy is listed.

The elegant full-page line drawings in red ink are by Oscar Mellor. Hardback in blue illustrated cloth, with silver figure to front board and silver titles to spine. In original plain tissue paper dust jacket. Book is in a fine condition, and dust jacket is in a very good / fine condition with just very small 'nicks' to top edge [iv], 112 pp. 215 x 130 mm (8œ x 5 inches).

Port Sunlight: Lever Brothers Limited, c. 1910. Loose leaf, in full colour, that appears to have formerly been tipped into another publication. Illustration of a man in a bath holding a bar of Lifebuoy soap with a box of soaps on the floor and a portrait of the Lifebuoy fisherman on the wall. Text reads "LIFEBUOY SOAP. Specially prepared for HANDS & BATH. Gives you that Healthy Feeling". Verso has the advertising text for Lifebuoy. Very good condition and still bright coloured, as it was kept enclosed in a book or magazine for most of its time. Clean and without creases etc. 160 x 115 mm (6ÂŒ x 4Âœ inches). Lever Brothers and other firms often commissioned many (now important) artists to produce their advertising for them. Will Owen (1869 – 1957) was an English book illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist and a commercial and poster artist, possibly best known for his iconic images of the Bisto Kids, Bovril, Lux and Lifebuoy.

This is the Third Edition, with the price One Shilling boldly printed to the front panel. Adverts to the inside covers. Stapled. A nice clean copy. Small stamp with "west lodge, Fountains Abbey" to the front cover - perhaps the then bookshop for the Abbey? Light rusting to the staples, otherwise clean and tidy inside and out. Not a first, but a very early edition of this guide to the Cistercian ruins. Black and white photographs throughout. [x], 48, [x], pp.
