The novel -- about a French actress known as "La Joconde" -- was published anonymously and no author is recorded in any of the entries on COPAC. However, papers held in the archives of the University of Hull reveal the book is by Alice O'Brien, author of Anthony Blake's Experiment (1896). She is also credited with authorship of a novel called La Joconde -- which is clearly simply another name for The Flaw in the Marble. The bibliographical details, including publication date, are somewhat hazy..
