Some foxing, and rubbing to the paper label; split in joint neatly repaired, but a very nice copy of a book difficult to find in original state. Folding map of the Oregon Territory. After a year-long overland journey and visit to the Pacific coast, Parker spent several weeks in Hawaii, which he describes at some length. Hill 1304; Forbes 1120.

Fifth letter lightly browned; small hole repaired with loss of a few letters on 18:7/8. First state of advertisement leaf with spelling"advertisement". "These letters were originally issued clandestinely in eighteen parts as a series of separate publications by a variety of different printers between 23 January 1656 and 15 January 1657. Very good. 93 pp. Proof copy, with corrections in ink, on some 47 pages, these are listed on the front cover, where there's another ink indication of this as a "marked proof", the back cover is date stamped "Proof 15 July 1963" with the printer's name, additional underlining in red pencil throughout the Introduction. The handwriting making the corrections appears to be Anglo-Russian and is probably the translator's.

Copy 4 of 25 on green Le Roy Louis teinte Normandie paper (tirage de tête) from a total edition of 130 copies. Illustrated with three line-cut drawings by Yves Tanguy. Inscribed by the author to Paul and Nusch Eluard. Pastoureau was a student in Paris after the first World War when he joined the Surrealists. He authored the surrealist manifesto "A la niche, les glapisseurs de dieu!" (1948). In the mid-1950s André Breton broke with him over Pastoureau's attack on Marcel Carrouges. "Cry of the Medusa" contains 24 surrealist poems, which Tanguy has illustrated with three surrealist compositions. In 1937, Tanguy exhibited at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, along with Magritte and Man Ray, a year before his first solo exhibition at Galerie Jeanne Bucher-Myrbor.
