Complete in two quarto volumes, modern full leather bindings, but retaining original marbled pastedowns and endpapers with ownership bookplates of Sir Henry St. John Mildmay (Dogmersfield Library) whose library was auctioned in London in 1907. Edited by Lord Braybrooke using John Smith's transcription of the original diary. Pepys diary gave historians important insights into the Restoration of the British Monarchy, the Anglo-Dutch war, The Great Plague and the Great Fire of London. Illustrated with 13 engraved plates as called for, no half-titles. An attractive set, some pages foxed, frontis of volume one with some staining.

Altemus' Wee Books for Wee Folks. Good dust jacket, chipping to spine ends, top third of front panel torn away and now reattached with archival tape at verso, slight damp stain at top spine and over to top spine edge of front panel, very good overall, discoloration to cloth from dampstain at rear cover, very light foxing to edges, smudges to title page, pencil inscription from 1907 at verso of frontispiece.
