Description:
Quarto (11 x 8 1/2 inches; 280 x 216 mm), [34] mimeographed pages, in side-stapled wrappers.
INSCRIBED by poet Ron Padgett on the title page to artist George Schneeman and his wife: "For George and Katie / Love, kisses, smooches, slobbers, blubbers, / weeping / Ron / November 1967." A warm and significant association. Padgett (b. 1942) introduced Schneeman to the New York scene when Schneeman and his family moved to the city from Italy in the 1960s. Schneeman (1934-2009) regularly collaborated with poets and writers of the New York School, illustrating their books, magazines and broadsides.
"In Advance of the Broken Arm" is Padgett's debut collection of poems, published by Ted Berrigan's C Press. This copy is the second edition (after the 1964 edition), one of 200 numbered copies, this being #140. Edited by Ted Berrigan, cover and drawings by Joe Brainard. A particularly important association between Padgett and Schneeman, who were close friends.

Description:
West Haven, Connecticut: Foundation for Promoting Enduring Peace, [1952?]. No Edition Stated.Single sheet folded to create [4] pages, each measuring 11 x 8 1/2 inches (279 x 216 mm). Rare leaflet on U.S.-Soviet relations, from a Christian Left perspective. The author pleads for better understanding of Russian history, arguing that the country has made great strides since the October Revolution. He also says the Soviets feel encircled by hostile forces, pointing to Western military bases along the country's perimeters. The format of this leaflet is a bit odd: the first three pages are professionally printed, while the last page appears to be mimeographed. The publisher, the Foundation for Promoting Enduring Peace, was established in 1952 to promote world peace and oppose military conflict. OCLC shows no institutional holdings (although a separate search turns up a copy in the Kringlock Pamphlet Collection of the University of Iowa). Nor were there any copies in commerce as of January 2021. RARE.… Read More

Description:
Pelc, Ant., Lev Haas, and Holobrádek. RP karikatury. Prague: Redakce Rudého práva, 1947. First Edition, First Printing. Oblong Octavo (8 1/8 x 5 3/4 inches; 208 x 145 mm), 75, [5] pages, in wrappers (soft cover).A rare book of cartoons published by the Czech Communist Party newspaper, Rudé právo. Antonin Pelc and Lev Haas drew the cartoons, which are pro-Communist, anti-Nazi, anti-American, and anti-Western alliance. Holobrádek (a pseudonym) supplied short verses to accompany each cartoon. The book appeared in 1947, a year before the Communist seizure of power in Czechoslovakia. Oddly, the cover features a cartoon by Pelc that misspells the name of Klement Gottwald, the Communist leader (it shows only one "t" in Gottwald). A sign displayed in the cartoon reads (translating from the Czech): "The construction of a two-year plan is carried out by Gotwald and others." That's a fair representation of the sometimes heavy-handed propaganda in the book, which depicts American businessmen as fat… Read More

"Under our system of free enterprise in medicine we have by all odds the best health record of any great nation in the world," he writes. The National Committee to Uphold Constitutional Government, the organization issuing this pamphlet, opposed many of President Roosevelt's economic and social policies and his attempt to enlarge the Supreme Court.
