Self Published. Hardcover. Boston, 1861. 8vo, brown patterned cloth, 267 pp. The scarce memoir of Eliza S.M. Quincy, wife of Josiah Quincy, written with the assistance of her daughter. With two autograph letters, signed, by Eliza Susan Quincy. One letter is to City Solicitor P.W. Chandler, thanking him for his praise of the book. The second is a longer letter with an extended quote from Neal's History of New England, which gives a history of the Quincy land at Sachem's Hill. Additionally inscribed by Eliza Quincy to Henry P. Dawson on preliminary page. A very good minus copy, well preserved, with some stray pencil marks underlining names of Quincy family members, front hinge starting, wear to spine at head and heel and Albert Thorndike's bookplate to front pastedown. A scarce title, with much material on nineteenth century Massachusetts society. The second portion of the book is compiled by Eliza Susan Quincy from her mother's notes. OCLC 4422258 .
