Coloured illustrations and decorations by Sheila Bourne. Printed in Gramond on ivory offset paper, bound into stiff decorated wrappers with matching parchment D/W. A fine copy in like D/W. Original prospectus laid in. A lovely production.

Offsetting/tanning to both sets of end-papers otherwise a VG+ copy in an age-darkened attractive like D/W. A collection of 99 retellings of the same story about a minor brwal on a Paris bus. Each told in a different style to absurd effect. Translated from the original French by Barbara Wright and with a preface by her. A real literary oddity and seemingly a scarce book in first edition format. The first translation of Raymond Queneau's 'untranslatable' Exercices de Style.

William Le Queux was a master of the spy genre and is widely acknowledged as the principal precursor of that famous spy story author of the second half of the 20th century, namely Ian Fleming.

The D/W is creased, nicked and rubbed with minor wear to the edge of the spine and the extremities. Exceedingly uncommon in D/W. A poorly-produced book this copy has lasted the test of time reasonably well.
