Black & white photograph by Dorothy Wilding, signed and dated by the King and Queen, 1937, with Wilding's studio label on the reverse; image: 250 x 200 mm; mounted and framed: 430 x 370 mm Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976) was a British photographer from Gloucester and the first female royal photographer. After studying alongside the photographer Marian Neilson she opened her own studio in 1914 and another in New York in 1937. She started photographing the Royal Family in 1928 and would proceed to photograph King George VI and his family, at his Coronation and produce the first image of Queen Elizabeth II for the Royal Mail stamps.The cost of George VI's Coronation was £454,000, more than three times the bill for his father's 1911 ceremony. Kerman, Qajar Persia, dated 14 Jumada II 1313 AH (2 December 1895 AD). . Single volume, two parts in one, decorated manuscript on green paper, in Farsi, complete, both parts 71 leaves plus additional blanks at front and back, 220 by 138 mm; single, double and four columns, between 16 and 24 lines black naskh script copied in a very elegant hand, headings in red, contemporary pagination to first part, bookplate pasted to first leaf, very clean and crisp condition; contemporary limp red leather, covers ruled in blind, a very clean example. An attractive volume comprising the Risalah Salariyyah of 'Isa bin Reza Quli Qajar, known as Majnun, followed by a small section of poetry in praise of Imam Ali with a particular section dedicated to Prince Farman Farman. The poetry latter part of this volume is by the father of 'Isa bin Reza Quli Qajar and contains original material that is likely unrecorded and unpublished.

George Sale (1697–1736) was a British Orientalist and lawyer. This translation was first published in 1734 and due to it's popularity, remained in print well into the first half of the 20th century with over 120 editions available.

First edition in English translation, 4to, [6], iii-ix, [3], 187, [1], 508, [16] pp., title in red and black, folding engraved map of Arabia (trimmed) and plate & plan of Mecca, 3 engraved genealogical tables (2 folding),upper margins a little mottled and some browning, bookplates and ink inscription to front free endpaper and upper pastedown; contemporary panelled calf, a little rubbed, rebacked with spine in raised bands, morocco label lettered in gilt, covers scuffed and rubbed. George Sale (1697–1736) was a British Orientalist and lawyer. This first edition was published in 1734 and was the first edition of the Qur'an to have been translated into English directly from Arabic, becoming a landmark text in Qur'anic studies. Due to its vast popularity, remained in print well into the first half of the 20th century with over 120 editions available.
