Twenty-seven tissue-guarded tinted lithographs and one engraved dedication leaf, with advertisement leaf to rear, in the publishers quarter morocco and cloth binding, smooth back with title in gilt to spine and upper cover, primrose endpapers. Recently rebacked by Temple Bookbinders with original backstrip laid on. Corners bumped, rubbed to extremities. Internally some light foxing, but generally quite bright and clean. Full straight-grain morocco, smooth back divided into three unequal panels, gilt title to middle panel, remaining panels with gilt volute tooling, covers with triple fillet bordering a repeating flower and tree roll enclosed with a single fillet, inner panel of interlaced gilt corner pieces joined with a flower head and leaf roll in blind, upper cover with central gilt coat of arms of Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland and later the King of Hanover, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, a.e.g. Slightly rubbed to extremities, King of Hanovers ink stamp to reverse of title, otherwise internally quite bright and clean. COPAC shows at the BL only, with no first editions listed. Internally lightly browned, a few light spots of foxing, but generally clean, a few small ink spots to fore-edge of text block, piece excised from head of ffep, with some old ink notes to fep, the rear blanks have had an additional index added in an old hand in pen. Engraved title, folding map and folding illustration tipped in at page 184.
