The author was in the 398th Infantry during WWII and writes "the impetus behind this book was to reconstruct from participants, the memorable terror and emotion filled night (December 3, 1944) that ended in misery and despair for well over 100 men of Company A, 398th Infantry, Battery A, 375th FAB, and Company D, 398th Infantry". The author was CAPTURED by the Germans and interrogated on this night. The author reached out to many of the survivors in an effort to research what happened.
