Los Angeles: LACE & Anticlub, 1985. 6 x 6" ticket, letterpress printed on thick card stock by Bruce Licher at Independent Project Press. An unused ticker for the event, one of SRL's landmark machine performances, entitled "Extremely Cruel Practices: Survival Research Laboratories Offers a Series of Events Designed to Instruct Those Interested in Policies That Correct or Punish." The event was presented by Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions and Anticlub. Fine.

New York: New Directions, 1959. First edition. 8vo, 246 pp, bound in blue cloth. Illustrated dust jacket designed by Donn Devita. Association copy, inscribed by Rexroth at the first blank in the year of publication to Charles Richards: "Happy Birthday Dear Charles. Kenneth Oct '59." A good association - Charles Richards and and his wife Janet were friends of Rexroth, and an important part of the California jazz scene. Janet chronicled some of this milieu in her underappreciated memoir Common Soldiers. This collection includes Rexroth's essay "Some Thoughts on Jazz as Music, as Revolt, as Mystique." Near fine, with some light fading to extremities of cloth, a couple small stains, and a touch of dustiness to the edges of the text block, in a very good dust jacket lightly chipped and nicked at extremities with a couple small closed tears.

New York: Macmillan, 1940. First edition. 8vo, 83 pp, bound in blue cloth titled in gilt. Illustrated dust jacket. With mimeographed errata slip taped down onto verso of last leaf. Association copy, inscribed boldly by Rexroth at the first blank to Charles and Janet Richards. The poet's first book, an important debut that would anticipate and pave the way for the Beat Generation. A good association - Charles and Janet were friends of Rexroth, and an important part of the California jazz scene. Janet chronicled some of this milieu in her underappreciated memoir Common Soldiers. The errata slip tipped in is rare, this being the first example we've seen. Strips of fading to cloth extremities, and some offsetting to ffep from Rexroth's signature, else near fine. The dust jacket is good only, with rubbing and creasing to extremities, and with the front flap nearly completely split. Good only.

Berlin: Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, 1980. First edition. Oblong 4to, [108] pp, tapebound into photographically illustrated wraps. Illustrated with b/w photographs. Text in German. With texts by Janos Frecot, Julie Schauer, Walter Aue, and Ulrich Bischoff. Artist's book published in conjunction with the 1980 exhibition at NBK, which documents the bricks which the artist from the ruins of buildings in Berlin and installed in the gallery. The initial images are of the archeological sites themselves, but soon give way to a sustained passage of full bleed b/w photographs, one brick per page. The eroded shapes of the bricks, as well as the symbols, marks, and maker's marks on the bricks, their original significance now lost in time, become an opaque index to the destruction of the buildings, a projection of a sort of ghostly afterlife of 20th century labor. San Francisco, 1981. 8 1/2 x 11" sheet, vintage xerox in b/w. The original flyer for this 1981 performance by the San Francisco avant garde dance troupe, who was associated with Voice Farm. Near fine with a short nick to lower margin and some minor handling creases.

Zurich: Jean-Christophe Verlag, 1937. First edition. 8vo, 223 pp, bound in dove grey cloth printed in blue; illustrated dust jacket. The first German translation of a work which had originally appeared in Dutch two years prior. The poet and socialist Roland-Holst was a close friend of Luxemburg. Following the ascent of the Nazi party, it was almost impossible to publish books with a socialist or pacifist attitude in Germany, and many such German language books were published in Switzerland, as with this title. Jean-Christophe Verlag was a publishing house closely allied with the Buchergilde Gutenberg, famous for publishing B. Traven. This shift allowed the Swiss designer Richard Paul Lohse to work on a variety of socialist books, including this title, which features one of the most striking and enduring dust jackets of the 1930's. Amsterdam: Art & Project, 1975. 4to, single sheet folded once to make four pages. Single issue of the remarkable periodical issued from the influential gallery run by Adriaan van Ravesteijn and Geert van Beijeren. Over the course of almost 20 years the gallery issued 156 of these bulletins, in almost all cases a single sheet folded into four panels, given over to the work of a single artist project, each a standalone work. One of the landmark periodicals of conceptual art. This issue is devoted to the work Multiple Applications 6-8 Coays Mk Wash + Support Color. Folded into thirds for mailing, with typewritten address. Very good with some minor toning and handling creases.
