So they decide to go "on the road" and start their own village "where a square and a swinging cat could swing in peace." Illustrated by the author of Harriet the Spy. A gem of a picture book that perfectly – and hilariously – captures the voice of the beatnik scene.

New York is Book Country was a literary Manhattan street fair featuring booksellers. The book festival began in 1979 and was held annually, and cancelled without explanation in 2010.This is some of the incredible poster art commissioned for the fair, designed by the biggest names in children's lit.
Maurice Sendak created the first poster for the fair in 1978, and created this one on the 10th anniversary in 1988. The poster measures 18.5" x 24".

First edition. If you think the alphabet stops with Z, you are wrong. So wrong. Leave it to Conrad Cornelius o'Donald o'Dell (with a little help from Dr. Seuss) to create an entirely new alphabet continuing from Z! This rhyming picture book introduces twenty new letters and the creatures that one can spell with them. This book was recently withdrawn from publication by the steward of Geisel's literary legacy, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, due to certain stereotypes featured in one of the images in the book.

First edition. A hilarious, racy, and decidedly not juvenile early book from the author of The Cat in the Hat, about the ever-naked Godiva sisters. Seuss definitely meant for this to be risqué, but it's the author/artist's gift for puns that stand out, though the naked ladies may surprise some unknowing Seuss fans!
