Important collection from the late British neurologist and author, Oliver Sacks. The group of stories and studies attempts to broaden understanding of the psychological aspects of music such as therapy, absolute pitch, phobias, hallucinations, and others.

Sacramento: Planned Parenthood Guild of Sacramento, 1970. 14x21cm, [1], 95, [1]pp. Hand drawn illustrations and pagination, photo reproduced sheets. Ring bound in yellow and white card wrappers with buggy illustration on front cover. Some soiling and wear to wrappers else very good. Unusual cookbook, copiously illustrated, and put together as a fundraiser for the Planned Parenthood Association of Sacramento.  The introduction states the purpose of the guild as "work[ing] together to carry out the aims of the Association through educational services, volunteer work, and fund raising."  The group also ran an annual antique show and sale to raise funds.   Worldcat locates a single copy under the cover title of "Gifts from the Kitchen," but with different pagination and color illustrations.  This, then, likely unrecroded.  .

Kansas City: Shaw Advertising Co, 1905. 15 x 10," cardboard, metal staples. Very good with partial tear in two places to flagpole, overall fading to color and a few stains. Die cut paper display sign for Halverson & Son Harness and Saddlery Shedds, Oregon ca. 1905, depicting a bust of Lincoln with eagle and flag. Perhaps used for calendars and/or catalogs. Shaw Manufacturing Co. was originally known as Shaw Stationary out of Peabody, KS. The company moved to Kansas City in February of 1905, rebranded, and began selling advertising pieces such as this to businesses in the West and Southwest. Little can be found on Halverson & Son.

Publisher's blue cloth with gilt stamped vignette illustration on front cover and lettering on spine, top edge stained blue. Boards lightly bumped and toned, adhesive residue to small section of front endpaper where review slip was attached else a near fine book in very good example of the jacket, with some toning, mainly to spine, and use at spine ends and corners, most notable being a small tear at upper corner of front panel. Collection from San Antonio born Chicano poet and activist, Raúl R. Salinas (1934-2008).  Salinas wrote some of his most well known works while incarcerated for over a decade on a small drug charge, including Un Trip through the Mind Jail y Otras Excursiones.  Uncommon signed.

Good condition with ffep removed and front pastedown partially torn at hinge. Library copy stamp to bottom of page block edge else clean and complete internally. Jacket good with a large chip from top edge of front panel, measuring approximately 2.5 x 1.5" and consisting of "Catc" of Catcher. A small portion of this is laid in for potential conservation. The jacket is also trimmed 1/4" along top and bottom edges, and glued to the boards at flaps. There are a few tears and some toning to flaps. The spine is darkened and shows some rubbing along the joints. The front panel colors remain bright. Original price of $3.00 in tact. An honest copy of the first edition of this iconic work. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.

Also included is an Advance Reader's Copy (ARC, Proof) still in shrink wrap, along with publisher's letter. All items in fine condition. From the Suntup website: The Numbered edition of 250 copies is a quarter cloth, flatback binding with handmade Indiana Wheatstraw paper boards and a foil stamped cover. Endsheets are Hahnemühle Bugra and the edition is printed offset on Mohawk Superfine. The slipcase is covered in a custom designed paper wrap printed on Hahnemühle Bugra. The edition is signed by Warren C. Carberg, Jr., Dave Christensen, Grady Hendrix and Wendell Minor.

Staple bound in blue, illustrated card wrappers with red label on front cover. From the Samuel and Narcissa Chamberlain Collection at the Schlesinger Library, with bookplate attached to inside front cover. Old call number sticker to front, title label beginning to separate, a bit shaken internally but holding. Very good. Small collection in the form of a Christmas greeting, with recipes The Old South, Cape Cod, Minnesota, and elsewhere.  Signed and warmly inscribed by the author to Samuel V. Chamberlain (1895-1975), the American printmaker, photographer, and architectural artist.  The inscription mentions the cookbook, Clementine in the Kitchen, which Chamberlain published under the pseudonym "Phineas Beck" in 1943.    Apparently unrecorded in OCLC.
