Photo frontispiece showing ten variations of the blue dun fly. Three additional plates, two of which are colored showing how Mr. Skues dresses his nymphs. There is an amusing chapter at the end of book, "Chapter X. What we Have to Put with at the Club / Doggerel from the Club Journal / This is Mine." Mr. Skues describes in rhymes his curiosity and parody of the dry fly. This book firmly established G. E. M. Skues and his methods as the preeminent force in early twentieth century fly fishing. This photograph shows Harry Stephen Harkness (July 17, 1880 - January 23, 1919) of New York City on May 11, 1900 at age 20 holding his rod and two large Bluefin tuna which he caught, weighing 91 and 109 pounds respectfully. The photo is matted and measures 8 x 6 inches; 10 x 8 ¾ including the matt. Harry Harkness was a respected race car driver and winner of the first "Race to the Clouds," the Mount Washington Hillclimb Auto Race. Once he raced against Henry Ford. He was also an aviator and wealthy, financing construction of many early airplanes. The photo and matt are in fine condition. .
