The billhead is for Edward Schelmerdine's hat manufactory located at 159 Chestnut St, in Philadelphia The invoice is for 3 purchases of Beaver hats during the year of 1830. Schelmerdine arrived in Philadelphia from England in 1807. He was an active member of the Franklin Institute.

Manchester, England: Daisy Bank Printing and Publishing Co, 1914. 31 pp. Wrappers show some soiling and staining. An illustrated piece on escape artists escape from handcuffs, leg irons, and prison cells.

New York: Nonesuch Press, 1929. 7 volumes. Bound in full morrocco and in very good condition with page edges lightly soiled. The former owner's name is written in ink on the inside front covers. Set 76 of 1600 copies.

London: C. and G. Kearsley, 1792. 239 pp. Very ggod in full calf. Binding sound. Minor stains and foxing. Has a bookplate of Lord Sinclair with an ink inscription to his daughter.

Chicago: Nina Van Zandt, 1887. 91 pp. Binding damp stained. Spies was anarchist and one of 4 men hung in Chicago in the aftermath of the Haymarket affair.

Boston: Shaker Agency, 1881. 4 pp. Fine and unfolded. This piece includes an analysis of the spring water sent to Brother Elijah Myrick dated Nov. 15, 1880 and this piece was probably published in early 1881 in anticipation of the opening of The Rural Home located at the former North Family of the Harvard Shaker Community. The recently constructed North Family dwelling was converted to a health resort featuring Shaker Medical Water.

Canterbury: The United Society, 1843. 402, [5] pp. Bound in full calf. The head of the spine has minor wear and rubbing. Edges of the first and last pages are foxed. Stewart was perhaps the best-known Shaker instrument who received messages from spirits. He was at New Lebanon and when he fell out of favor, he was moved to Sabbathday Lake for a time. This is Oakley's first published work. Foxing and wear to the binding. With the bookplates of two 19th Century Norway, Maine doctors named Bradbury.

New York: E.M. Murden & A. Ming, Jr., 1827. 20 pp. Bound with The Confession of Jesse Strang, Who was Executed at Albany, August 24, 1827, for the Murder of John Whipple. Albany: 1827. 24 pp. Both titles worn, foxed and stained. Stang was led astray by Whipple's wife and he finely agreed to shoot her husband. Strang succeeded in killing the husband but ended up confessing to the crime and implicated the wife. In the end she was not charged, and he was hung. McDade, 933 and 935. Bound in recent black cloth.

Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1955. 5 volumes complete Very good with soiled jackets with some minor tears This set is from the remaining stock of the Midland Rare Book Co Midland was one of the best dealers in Western Americana in the 1940's-60's Include with the books is a description typed on an old Midland Book Co mailing label Scarce.

1926. Two painted original illustrations by Wallis Hall Sturtevant for Louise Lamprey's book Days of the Builders published by Stokes in 1926 The first illustration is of the construction of the Panama Canal and is titled "Warren took Dick to see the steam-shovels at work" and the other is a World War I theme titled "That's right: the street is full of Boches" Both images are about 13" x 10" and are in 23" x 19" frames Lamprey was a Maine author while Sturtevant was a Massachusetts artist born in 1897.

Albany: C. Van Benthuysen, 1862. 94 pp. Soiled and light wear and occasional notes in pencil. McDade 137. Illustrated with plates that document the study of blood splatter. Rev. Budge was accused and convicted of murdering his wife by cutting her throat.
