The third of 7 issues of this artists' magazine published in Northern Brazil, published by a group of writers and artists including Nilto Maciel. Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1929. 32mo, saddle-stapled wraps. Gibbs 1405, first noted printing, in the first wrapper state. De Sade's text, written while he was incarcerated at Chateau de Vincennes, and here translated into English by the author of Paris Was Our Mistress. The translation first appeared in the U.S. under the Covic imprint two years prior, in an overwrought binding... this pocket edition that followed two years later is superb, a little Sade in the pocket. Wraps rather faded and rubbed at extremities, with the name of the prior owner written in ink at title page, else very good.

London: Neville Spearman, 1972. First edition. 8vo, 285 pp, bound in brown boards titled in gilt at the spine. Includes index. A sturdy, near fine copy in a very good, price-clipped dust jacket a bit rubbed at extremities with a couple of closed tears.

Pretoria, South Africa: Ophir Press, 1968. First edition. Narrow 8vo, [8] pp, saddle-stapled wraps. An early chapbook by the South African poet, and a scarce title from the Ophir Press. Very good with some strips of fading to covers.

Baltimore: Pod Books, 1977. First edition. 12mo, unpaginated, saddle-stitched in illustrated oblong wraps illustrated by a drawing by Nancy Ackerman. One of 500 copies. Fugitive chapbook published by Kirby and Rosemary Malone under the Pod Books imprint, scarcer than the limitation would suggest. Not to be confused with the Abbatoir Editions edition. Very good with toning and a touch of foxing to wraps.

[Berkeley]: [Political Poster Workshop at the University of Berkeley], 1970. 14 3/4 x 21 3/4" poster, silkscreened on conjoined sheets of found tractor-feed computer paper. One of the most striking posters from the workshop, featuring a portrait of Black Panther Party member Bobby Seale, with the caption "Seize the Time." The number 4973 appears on the left margin of the image, intended to be a police code so that the posters wouldn't be torn down. The posters produced by the workshop were printed on the backs of used tractor-feed computer paper, as with this example, which still bears some old printout equations at verso. Reference: Williams, Carl, ed. 4973: Berkeley Protest Posters 1970, poster no. 100. A couple small spots of foxing to margins, some faint crumpling to lower left margin, but very good and clean.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, nd. 32mo, stapled white wraps printed in black (coated paper stock). Gibbs 557, variation 1, 7th noted LBB (2) binding. Slight toning and a touch of fraying to spine ends, else fine and scarce thus.

Paris: l'Internationale Situationniste, 1962. 4 7/8 x 6" postcard, printed in black on white card stock, and illustrated with an appropriated comic taken from Superman. Typewritten address of Mr. J. Dellstra [aka Tjeerd Deelstra] at verso. Postmarked and sent from the Rue St. Denis post office in Paris on September 27, 1962. Strong horizontal crease, and a small faint narrow 1" long stain to upper left corner, else very good.

Venice: Second Situationist International, 1968. 8 5/8 x 12" leaflet, printed in black on orange paper stock. Illustrated with a photograph. Leaflet issued by the Second Situationist International on the occasion of the 1968 Venice Biennale, proposing, in conjunction with the World Anarchist Council, the occupation of the Swedish pavilion in order to turn it into a Trojan Horse, a "pavillon of revolt," and soliciting the collaboration of the Italian pavilion. The leaflet outlines further steps to be taken against the art world, including abandoning the art academies and the erection of art barricades. This last step was in homage to Gustave Courbet and his two most radical actions; the erection of a separate pavilion outside of the Paris world exhibition, and, infamously, his detonation of the Vendome Pillar in 1871. Folded three times, with some additional faint creasing, but bright and very good.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1929. 32mo, 156, [4] pp, saddle-stapled wraps. Gibbs 94a, third noted variation. One of the longest of the pocket books. Very good with fading to the wraps, some pages stil uncut, with the first opened a little roughly.

Los Angeles: Independent Project Press, 1985. 4 x 6" postcard, letterpress printed in two colors on thick chipboard card stock. Postcard for this 1985 show at Club Lingerie by Sonic Youth - an early west coast show by the band - with Savage Republic and Lawndale. The verso of the postcard advertises a series of early shows by Camper Van Beethoven, at Club Lingerie, Texas Records, and Anticlub. Beautifully designed and printed by Savage Republic member Bruce Licher at Independent Project Press. Fine.

Paris: Comite d'occupation de la Sorbonne, 1968. 8 1/4 x 10 5/8", mimeographed from typescript on watermarked "BFK Reeves Extra Strong" paper. A tract issued at 3:30 PM, May 16, 1968, calling for the occupation of all factories in France and the formation of worker's councils following the occupation of the Sud Aviation factory and other factories across France. The Sorbonne Occupation Committee had been formed three days prior, on May 13, following the withdrawal of police from the Latin Quarter. Despite the brevity and diminuitive appearance of the tract, it is one of the key documents of the events of May 1968, laying the groundwork for the formation of the CMDO by the committee the very next evening. The tract is transcribed in Vienet [Vienet, p. 265] and is the first tract included in Section II, devoted to the tracts issued jointly by the CMDO and Situationist International. Folded twice, with additional handling creases, very good.

[Australia]: [SPK], nd. 8 x 10" vintage silver gelatin print. Photograph used as the basis for the industrial project's infamous Dokument 2 zine. Some minor foxing and staining, some age oxidation to image at lower margin. Very good.

Single issue of the artists' periodical / artists' book series published in Wien by Peter Pakesch and Johannes Von Schlebrügge. Each issue invites an artist or artists to create and design the issue, making it a hybrid of a periodical and an artists' book. This issue was devoted to texts and poetry by Frances Stark. Near fine with a light crease to crown.

One of "around 3000 copies" designed and printed by Bruce Licher at the Independent Project Press. The stamps were issued in at least four different colors; this is the yellow version, with the card folder letterpressed in yelow and blue. Fine.
