Delaware State Forestry Department. Dover. 1960. Second edition. 254 pages. Hardcover. The covers are in very good condition, only very minor bumping fraying on top and bottom of spine and corners. The title and a tree illustration are in green on the front cover; the title in green on the spine is a bit faded. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good plus condition. The pages are clean and bright, there is no writing, markings, or foxing detected. The book includes 39 black/white photographs of tree trunks to show bark characteristics of different species. The species descriptions include characteristics of leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, seeds, wood, distribution, and habitat. Each species description includes numerous drawings to aid in identification. A nice copy of a book that would be a helpful resource in learning about trees in Delaware or the surrounding eastern region of the U.S.

The title and author are in gold on the spine; there is mild wear at the corners and top/bottom of spine. The binding is solid. The dust jacket is in good condition; there is some minor loss at the top of the spine and there are a few small tears along the edges, all less than 1 in. in length. The front of the dust jacket is bright and attractive; the jacket is protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The interior of the book is clean with no spotting detected; the only writing is a small, faint, erased price in the top right corner of the front free endpaper. The dust jacket is faded in spots on front with significant faded color loss on spine, but the printing is clear. The back of the dust jacket includes a black and white photo of the author. The interior of the book is in very good condition, it is bright, there is no writing. The frontispiece is a nice color illustration of tundra birds by wildlife artist George Miksch Sutton.
