The First UK printing published by Publications from Pall Mall Ltd., London in 1937. The book was issued by the publishers as 'The Coronation Edition'. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Some pushing with very slight splitting to the extreme spine tips. The original blue publisher's boards remain very clean with just some tiny rubs to the lower corners. The gilt titling and decorations remain bright. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Light toning and spotting to the text-block and prelims. Mild offsetting to the blank end-papers with light spotting to the prelims with one small mark to the fore edge of the title and frontis pages. This edition was issued with two different wrappers. This is the more scarcer of the two and is a stiff glassine pictorial wrapper. The WRAPPER is in Very Good condition with edge-wear and loss to the spine ends and rear upper edges due to its fragility (see images). Some closed tears and nicks in places. Priced at '7/6 net' to the lower front flap. The… Read more

Description:
The sole printing published by Nash Publications, Bournemouth in 1961. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. The original blue cloth-bound with titles in gilt has a little pushing at the spine ends with light rubbing to the edges and corners. Some light age related markings to the covers in places. Some offsetting to the end papers with toning of the page edges due to the quality of the paper stock used. A few pages have more marked irregular toning to the edges and there is a very thin water stain to the extreme edge of the lower rear end-paper which has offset to the rear paste-down. 62 pages with a coloured frontispiece by Stephen Tennant. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition with a colour design by Tennant, reproducing the frontispiece. Some light wear to the rear wrapper with a 3cm closed tear to the lower front spine fold. The wrapper artwork remains very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Description:
The true First Printing published by Secker and Warburg in 1929. This is number 1 of one hundred and twenty five copies specially printed on vellum paper each numbered and signed by the author. Interestingly although this copy is numbered '1' , it appears to be unsigned. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light pushing at the spine ends with a little fraying at the lower spine tip. Light soiling to the boards. Gilt titling remains bright. Light spotting and a few minor marks to the end-papers. Mild toning to the text-block and page edges. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Fascimile handwriting and illustrations throughout, by the author. Seen as a risqué publication when it first appeared, this "comical fantasia" [Tennant's own words] is a rather camp tale of the Rev Littlejohn and two lady companions who embark on a missionary expedition to the deepest jungle. Tennant was a British socialite known for his decadent lifestyle. He was called 'the brightest' of the 'Bright Young People'.… Read more

Hand-set and printed in 24-point Bembo on heavy Royal Cornwall paper, and numbered '3' of only 5 copies. Signed by the artist to the limitation page. There were also eight copies on Velin Cuvee paper. Illustrated with 6 full-page and 7 smaller etchings from zinc plates. Neal went on to further illustrate a 'Centenary Celebration of Edward Thomas' in 1978. A very handsome production. Protected in a loose Mylar archival cover.
