The Fashion Group's objective was to push forward the agenda of women in business, especially in the fashion industry. Every office in the organization, including a position of Producer of its gala, was held by a woman. The shine on your stove lasts twice as long when polished with Stovene as when blackened with other stove polishes. Stovene stove polish was manufactured by the Stovene Manufacturing Co. of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The company was formerly called John Torrey Manufacturing Company, but was renamed in 1895. Advertising in the 19th century, once again targeting women in the domestic sphere. Gussested paper bag; folded flat; text imprinted on upper panel. Rubber stamped at top "S.O.S. Defiance 2." Manufacturer's hole punch at top of lower panel. Minor wear at some edges.

Before the Great Depression and the stock market crash in October, 1929, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel brought the well heeled swells, who steamed their way to this haven for sun, fun, and golf. Dinner menu plus a note "to our patrons" including: "A visit to the Hawaiian Pineapple Company's cannery can be arranged through the front office", and Event of the Day: "Hawaiian Concert, Coconut Grove at 8:30 P.M." Color illustrated throughout with a bird's eye view of the Royal Hawaiian and Moana Hotels on the beach at Waikiki on the cover. 1 cm closed tear on front and back cover. Lithographed by Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

A rousing sermon given by Nicholas P. Tillinghast (1817-1869), an Episcopal clergyman and son of Joseph Leonard Tillinghast, (member of the House of Representatives, and Speaker of the House from May 1829 to October 1832), during very difficult times in our Nations capital. First page contains the "Correspondence" from the church's committee imploring Tillinghast to "furnish for publication a copy of the eloquent and appropriate discourse delivered by you on the recent Thanksgiving-day appointed by the President." Tillinghast humbly obliges, "I yet feel bound to place it at your disposal." Exterior wraps lightly soiled, creased, with 1 cm. chip. Interior clean except for last page toned.
