Text is clean. Foxing is present on the outer edges of the text block, the title page, and on some margins of the text. Binding is bright with little wear around the edges. There is a crack in the margin at page 179 but all pages are attached. Inscription dated 1908 is on the front free end paper. Frontispiece included.

There are a couple of smudges on the outside margins. Pages 279-289 have closed tears and are dinged at the bottom margins. Lettering on the spine is faded. Binding has very little wear and is tight and square. Previous owner's name and address are on the top outside corner of the front free end paper.
