A later edition of book which was, we think, published in 1852 by Putman. This is volume III of an eight volume "cyclopedia". This volume focuses on the "useful art" such as agriculture, architecture, manufacture, etc. Illustrations scattered throughout the book. The book is in remarkably good condition for its age. The cover has heavy shelf wear at corners and edges but the binding is still holding. The pages are in excellent condition. We skimmed through the book and could not find any marks, tears or foxing except for a stamped name and inscription on the second fly-leaf page, an impressed book-sellers I. D. on the third fly-leaf page, a smudge on the second title page, and a signature and date (1861) on the first blank fly-leaf page at the end of the text (see photos).

This beautiful book is one of a 2000 copy limited edition. The book and dj are virtually new. The only fault we could find was an almost microscopic nick at the top of the front dj cover.

Book and dj are virtually new. No faults were found. There is an interesting inscription and signature, along with a sketch of a bird in flight, on the title page. It does not appear to be by the author. Rather, based on the inscriiption, it appears to be from an artist, perhaps from an artist covered in the book. We are not familiar with the world of sporting prints and could not identify the signature. We would like to find out. See attached photo.

First edition, Red leather over board covers in faiir+ condition (see photo), although gold lettering and designs on front and spine are still bright. Pages and the charming 50 turn-of the century bw photos are in excellent condition - no tears, no marks, no foxing. Pages XIII -16 have not been separated at the edges. The index pages 251-53 are similarly attached.

First edition, first printing. The book is in excellent condition. The only faults we could find are some whitening/scuffing on the covers and light shelf wear at top and bottom of cover spine. There is a very small bookstore label pasted at the bottom of the inside back cover. pages, of high quality paper are like new - no marks, tears or foxing.

First edition, second printing. 85 pages + several pages of adverts. The book is in excellent condition. Some light scuffing on cover, miniscule shelf wear on covers and light age toning on endpapers are the only faults we could find. Pages are like new. No foxing, tears, or marks.

True first edition, third or fourth printing. In excellent condition. Tight binding. Light scuffing on front cover. Miniscule shelf wear. Dedication page has two very small tears along top edge of page. We could not find any other faults. No other tears, marks or foxing.

First U S Edition. The book is in new condition; the Dj also, except that the inside flap has a folding crease about 2/3" wide from top to bottom. 334 illustrations, 161 in color. Many(but a minority) illustrations on single page.

Rare first edition; probably first printing (full number line on copyright page). In virtually new condition. No faults found. Illustrations by Brooke Allen. Author's signature, with an inscription and a charming drawing on the first title page. No dj.

Limited and numbered first edition by the Guilde du Livre. This book is no. 5282 out of 8,000 printed. The book is in 'like new' condition except for a deeper orange-red stain at the top edge of the front and back covers. These are visible upon close examination. The text is entirely in French. The translator (from the Japanese) was G. Renondeau.

The book is in 'like new' condition except for miniscule wear at the two front cover corners and an inscription on the first fly-leaf page. The unclipped dj has some light soiling, an old price label stuck on the back of the dj and very light shelf wear top corners. We believe this is a first edition, first printing as there are no other indications of editions or printings on the publication page. This is a Fine hardcover copy in a Near Fine unclipped dj. The book is 'as new." The dj has very slight shelf wear at edges. Publication coincided with the exhibition at the Bard Graduate Centre for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design and Culture, in New York from July 14, through October 16, 2005. Book is in virtually new condtion. Unclipped dj has some wrinking at the top of the back flap and at the bottom of the front. Very light wear at two of the dj flap corners. Also a small chip at the top of the back dj cover.

First American edition, which, in fact, preceded the first English edition in book form. The cover has significant age fading and soiling but little shelf wear (mainly at the top and bottom of spine). Spotting in the margins on pages 151 - 154 and on the last five pages and recto end papers. Otherwise, pages are in excellent condition; no foxing, tears or blemishes.

Stated First Edition (First Canadian). First printing. The book would be 'As New' except for slight buckling on the about the first 50 pages. The unclipped dj ($22.95 CA), in a PLASTI - KLEER cover, has light soiling at the upper front corner; otherwise 'As New".

Rare signed first edition. Author's signature (last name), without an inscription, appears on the full title page. This is probably a later printing. The number line on the copyright page reads, "QUM 10 9 8 7 6 5" . Both book and dj are in "As New" condition. Dj is encased in a Plasti-Kleer transparent cover.
