A little wear to boards and slight spotting to text block edges and endpapers. Very clean internally and binding sound. Dust jacket: good. Unclipped. A little edge wear and generally slightly rubbed. The author has taken a broad view of his subject and has incorporated terms used in soil sciences, biochemistry and statistics, as well as those particular to botany. Definitions of all the phyla, classes, orders and families have been given and, because of their persistence i the literature of the subject, obsolete terms are included along with their modern equivalents.

Tape reinforcement to back of jacket to hold rear flap in position as it has separated completely. Colour fade to front and spine.
