Description:
New York: St Martin's Press, 1987. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good +. The long-awaited conclusion to The Sanguinet Saga, written at the urgent request of many readers who were anxious to learn the fates of some of Patricia Veryan's most memorable characters. "The Sanguinet saga (Sanguinet's Crown, The Noblest Frailty) rolls on with attention this time to devastatingly handsome Alain Devenish and his ward, Josie Storm. It takes a welter of stratagems, entrapments and collusion from a variegated household staff of eccentric retainers and overly domesticated animals before a predictable finale is reached. Familiars, good and evil, from the earlier volumes are on the scene, but it is pert Josie, the waif stolen by gypsies whom Devenish adopted four years earlier, and who now lays siege to his heart, who stirs the action. Josie has a coming-out party at which obese George IV…

Description:
St Martin's Press, 1985. First edition. Hardcover. Good/fair. Having escaped the clutches of the evil Frenchman Monsieur Sanguinet, Charity Strand is in no mood to endure the boorish behavior of the arrogant Mitchell Redmond. But when Sanguinet plots again, Redmond must save Miss Strand. Book is in good condition, covers are very good or better but the binding is a little loose so that in a couple of places, the pages fall open and are splayed. About 20 pages in the middle got wet at some point, they show the tell-tale wave, but it's not very noticeable. No other interior marks or problems. The dust jacket is fair with sunning along the spine and wear and bumping along the edges as well as chipping and tiny tears along the edges, especially at the corners and at both ends of the spine. Two small closed tears have been taped from the inside. The picture is a scan of the actual jacket.

Description:
New York: Farrar, Straus & Giroux, The Noonday Press, 1997. Second printing. Paperback. Very Good. Beautiful black & white photographs of German and Eastern European Jews in the years immediately preceding the Holocaust. Roman Vishniac, a Russian Jew, started taking photographs of village life during World War I. He later moved to Germany and witnessed Kristallnacht and the anti-Jewish legislation that allowed Hitler to declare his enemies stateless and therefore unworthy of international protection. Vishniac's photographs, only a small fraction of the 16,000 he took, show us the faces of people soon to die, a world that has vanished. His photographs are beautiful, and haunting. Book is in very good condition with some shelf wear, bumping to the edges. There is a personal inscription on the inside of the front cover and the price on the back cover is crossed out with pen. The pages are clean and binding tight.
