Large foldable map of pre-war Rotterdam. Some parts hand-colored in blue to indicate water. One small part is arched in red: possibly where the former owner lived or worked? De Vries, 'Pieter Meijer (1718-1781), een uitgever als instituut', in: MedJCW 28 (2005), 2 Anoniem dichtstuk over twee gelieven die elkaar niet krijgen door het veto van een ontaarde vader die dan ook de programmanaam Eigenbaat voert; de jongen en het meisje heten Eerlief en Dorinde. In werkelijkheid heette de vader Pieter Meijer, de zoon Cornelis en het meisje Geertruijd van der Hart. De uitgever en letterkundige Meijer, inmiddels een man van aanzien in Amsterdam, verbood zijn zoon te trouwen met Geertruijd, het paar vluchtte en trouwde in het buitenland, waarna de vader - in privézaken kennelijk even bikkelhard als in zijn uitgeverij - zijn zoon liet oppakken, terugvoeren en opsluiten in Amsterdam. Daar stierf de jongen, volgens velen van verdriet.

Oblong, half leren band uit de tijd, (2) 27 pag. tekst en 36 gravures, elk met 6 of 8 regels onderschrift in het Nederlands en Latijn, gesigneerd A. Tempesta. De platen van Antonio Tempesta (1555-1630) tonen de gevechten tussen de Hollanders en de Romeinen, gebaseerd op de verhalen van Tacitus. Plaat 1 is gedateerd 1611. De achterzijden van de 36 prenten zijn blanco. Er bestaan ook edities waarbij de tekst van Van Veen op de achterzijden van de prenten is gedrukt. De prenten in ons exemplaar zijn goed van druk. Muziekstuk, manuscript, gecomponeerd en opgeschreven door Prof. Bernard Franz Vajda, componist, en opgedragen aan Mgr. Dr. Th. Verhoeven. Verhoeven woonde in Den Haag en was onder meer directeur van het R.K. Centraal Bureau voor onderwijs en opvoeding. Van de componist Vajda is tenminste nog één ander muziekstuk bekend.

Signed on bottom: ""van Penen invent / Jan de Later fecit // G. Valck Excud."" titled in the middle bottom: ""DE STERKE FORSHEYT."" Mezzotint on paper, trimmed to plate; total: 228 x 189 mm; some damages along the margins, as well as some staining; on verso the bottom right corner has been repaired, resulting in some losses in the signatures text; nevertheless, beautiful impression.

Sleeping woman with her needle work on the lap. After a painting by van Musscher that had its pendant in the 'Woman searching for fleas' that was also turned in mezzotint by Valk. Beautiful night scene. The original painting 'is described as 'Woman darning a stocking', in fact a woman who has dozed off over her needlework. The wool has slipped out of her slack hand, and her head is rolling back'. (from Mirror of every day life, p. 370). Signed and adressed at bottom: 'M. van Musscher Pinxit / Cum Privilegio ordinum Hollandiae et Westfrisiae / G. Valck Fecit [et excud.]', where 'et excud' has been scraped away from the paper.Dating ca. 1662-1726. Mezzotint on paper, trimmed to plate; total: 353 x 253 mm; pen mark on the bottom right; state IV/4; Hollstein 44, Nagler 41, le Blanc 55, Wurzbach 60; beautiful impression.

Allegorical portrait of king Louis XIII of France, included in ""Le Triomphes de Louis le Juste XIII. du nom, Roy de la France et de la Navarre. Contenans les plus grandes actions ou...."" , published in Paris in 1649. The king is portrayed in a circular frame, decorated as a stylized wreath. The portrait stands in front of a classical building reminding of the Pantheon in Rome. In the foreground, a winged personification of History is about to write the deeds of the king with a quill.Alison Saunders provided some context to the publication: ""[...] the royal engraver Jean Valdor, had [already] done this in 1649, with his ambitious emblematic history of the exploits of Louis XIII.
