The story of a daring escape by three men from Japanese-occupied Java in 1942. 166 pages with eight pages of black and white photographs. A few page edges affected by rough opening but not having any effects on information. Unclipped dust jacket, now protected in archival plastic cover, has edge wear, a half-inch chip, and fading and sticker removal mark on spine. Age-toning and some soiling to book and dust jacket, but no names or marks.

Evocative 48 full-page etchings with a 17 page introduction by the artist, who has SIGNED the book on the front free end paper. Previous owner's presentation copy to James Benjamin Lampert (1914-1978). Lampert was a U.S. Army Lieutenant General, Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy, and an early pioneer of nuclear weapons and nuclear power. The book is signed by eleven of his supporters. A product of the Beck Engraving Company. Light sunning to top of front board. Some mild soiling to boards. Light age-toning to paper. Interior quite fresh and clean. Unpaginated but well over 100 pages. Unclipped dust jacket, now protected in an archival plastic cover, has substantial wear with a significant tear at spine tail. An attractive and appealing book.
