Tokyo, Japan: Oreste Vaccari , 1939. No date but circa 1939. Vaccari's Kanji "Cards" is the first publication adapted for foreign students showing how Chinese-Japanese characters are written with the brush (fude). The cards measure 4x2.75 inches and are housed in the original box that measures 9x6.5x4.5 inches. The box is divided into two sections in each of which the cards are placed in groups separated by sliding partitions and in the order of the number of strokes of the kanji printed on them. Contains 7000 compound words used in modern Japanese, and formed by the characters printed in handwriting style in combination with other kanji. All Chinese-Japanese characters have been given in the order of the progression of the number of their strokes, which is indicated on the upper edge of the partitions that divide the cards in the box that contains them.
