Description:
First edition, first issue, hardcover, 1844, New York. True first issues are uncommon and are discussed in the Notes section below. Overall condition is Very Good but not without defects. The yellow papers have central darkening that does not affect any other leaves. Prior bookseller notes seen on ffep. Stamp of New Jersey Historical Society on title page, pp. 164, 166. No other writing or stamps seen. The half title, title and map are lacking top outside corner not affecting image or text in any way (see images). The front blanks have water injury which lightly affects map and title page (see images). Description:
First edition, second printing, Verona, 1770. This enlightened physician correctly recommended citrus for treatment of scurvy. Little noticed then and now as his name is nearly forgotten. A very rare item. I do not locate any translation in English. WorldCat locates 3 copies. See OCLC: 14316323; 869038856. Pamphlet bound in modern grey boards, title on spine. Condition is Very Good: primary condition issue is dampstain that runs through entire text. Worst is seen on title page. A few old corner folds. Printed on superior 18th century laid paper which remains supple and bright. No interior writing, prior owner's name plate on front blank. 43 pages, modern blanks. For the collector of medical history. Please see images of the book you will receive. Feel free to inquire. Notes: Recognition of scurvy on sea voyages was noted in the 15th century and correct treatment identified in 16th century. The majority medical establishment ignored the knowledge of observant sailors for the next 200 years. This text…

Description:
Four volume hardcover set of Verne titles. The standout feature of this set is the condition which is Near Fine. Decorative blind stamped boards of blue cloth. Minor abrasions can be seen on the front and rear boards. The interiors have no writing, folds or other evidence of use. The paper is moderately toned and somewhat fragile. The only defect I can find is the ffep of Michael Strogoff which partially cracked when I was trying to image the title page. So handle with care, these are not reading copies. A curious feature seen in three volumes is the font size drops in the final few pages. Volumes are 7.25 x 5 inches. A very cool set with nice shelf presence. This is an uncommon edition. I assume there are other Verne titles with this binding but I could not find them. Please see images of the books you will receive. Feel free to inquire. Notes: I did some research to determine date of publication. I am assuming that Hurst published these more or less at the same time. Claudius Bombarnac was first…

Description:
First edition bound in vellum. Munich, 1647. Condition is Good. Primary condition issue is missing spine. Text block binding remains sound. Vellum boards with Yapp style fore-edges and typical vellum warp. Interior has modern stamp (R151) on interior front pastedown, ffep with pencil notation and older ink info, title page with old library stamp, prior ownership inscription dated 1699, half title has pencil note at bottom. No other interior markings or problems. Quite decent old paper remains supple. Paginates: [24], map, 480, [12] with original blanks. This is a small format book (12 mo) approximately 12.5 x 7 cm. See Alden European American 647/28. A cool old book with a 17th century map of the Americas. Please see images of the book you will receive. Feel free to inquire. Notes: Alden states this is historical fiction based on Gobeo's shipwreck narrative of 1610 (EA 610/115). It does not read like that to me (I observe and make no claim to authority). This is a description of Central and South…
