There is also an introductory chapter by the author titled "New Ideas in the Novel" and a concluding chapter on "Some Contemporary Consequences of Naturalism." Contains source notes and a bibliography in the rear. One sentence underlined in ink in the chapter on Frederick and Hamlin Garland and a some occasional sentence underlining was erased (and barely noticeable) at one time in the chapter on Theodore Dreiser, else a nice tight copy in the orginal brown publisher's cloth. No prevous owner name. The dust jacket is has a little edgewear, else it is in decent condition and now in a protective, removable acetate jacket. ; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 332 pages .
