Description:
This book's binding is tight, the pages are clean and intact; the dustjacket is faded and distressed, it is in a protective sleeve.
Weil, a French philosopher, mystic, and political activist, has influenced religious thinking profoundly in the years since her death in 1943. This book is a collection of writings which reflect the author's intellectual and spiritual concerns on Greek thought. It discusses how precursors to Christian religious ideas can be found in ancient Greek mythology, literature and philosophy. Weil looks at evidence of "Christian" feelings in Electra, Orestes, and Antigone, and in the Iliad, going on to examine God in Plato, and divine love in creation, as seen by the ancient Greeks.
