Engraving, etching and aquatint with hand-coloring and mezzotint on buff wove paper (plate: 50.5 x 66 cm.; image: 42.5 x 59 cm.). Second state, in which it is added that the view was "taken from M. Carey & Sons Book Store. S.E. corner of 4th and Chestnut Sts". There is no known extant copy of the first state, but it is referred to and described in Stauffer & Fielding's American Engravers upon Copper and Steel (page 556). "The procession of butchers with their carts carrying meat from a cattle market show was organized to encourage the breeding of cattle and attracted 300,000 people if the Philadelphia Gazette is to be believed. It took one hundred carts to carry 86,731 pounds of meat, including bear and deer meat. The butchers and victualers proudly flew their banner, 'We feed the Hungry.'" Third Edition, following the first of 1891 (vol. 2, no 4.), and the second of 1892 (vol. 5, no. 2), both of 32 pages. A quirky book, likely because its contents were pulled from a variety of professional cookbooks in sections. Short sections of recipes include: Dessert Wafers, Fruit Waters, Dates & Figs, Wine Jellies, etc. Internally clean and sound. In tan wrappers, titled in black; some edgewear and chipping to spine. Near very good. Scarce. [OCLC locates just one copy of this edition (George Mason U.), and five copies combined of the first and second edition].

New York: New York Market, 1890. Small octavo, 32 pages. A practical handbook for the proper shipment of goods including produce, meats, and poultry for sale at the New York Market. Advice includes regulations regarding marking and shipping of packages; shipping in ice; methods of killing poultry; selection of spring lambs; customary care for hops and honey; and uniform selection of apples and pears, among other items and rules. Apple section (page 30) is crossed out. In yellow, titled wrappers with slight age wear, otherwise very good.

[New York: the company]; Neuman & Dinglinger, Lith, 1881. Trade card (15.5 x 8.7 cm.). Recto is a chromolithograph printed in red, pale blue, and gold; verso printed in red and black. A trade card advertising the G.H. Mumm Champagne imported by Fred de Bary & Co., located at the time at 43 & 44 Warren Street in New York City. The card lists the comparative quantities of champagnes brought into the United States by various importers. Of a total of 214, 732 cases of the bubbles, G.H. Mumm & Co. tops the list at 69, 308 cases. Near fine.

Justus von Liebig's Meat Extract was produced in Uruguay and sold worldwide, promising health and vitality. These were issued in various bindings, this copy in black and gold printed red cloth. Internally age-toned throughout; somewhat brittle. Hinges pulling a bit. Red boards soiled, otherwise very good. [OCLC locates eleven copies (only four in the U.S.)].
