6 Ryder Street, St. james’s, 2 August 1838. 1 page 10 x 8 inches, slightly worn along left and right margins, minor blemishes only. Uncommon. “The Shark proved to be a male of the Common Tope, Penny Dog or Millers Dog - British Fishes vol 2, page 390, for by these various names is this species known on our coast. It was an acceptable present to the Zoological Sicety as the museum did not contain a specimen.” William Yarrell (1784-1856), bookseller and naturalist, best known as the author of The History of British Fishes (2 vols., 1836) and The History of British Birds (2 vols., 1843). The latter went into several editions and was the standard reference work for a generation of British ornithologists. He was also the first person to describe the Bewick's Swan in 1830, distinguishing it from the larger Whooper Swan.

This presentation statement was prepared for publication in the famous anthology Pax Mundi. Livre D'or De La Paix (Geneva, 1932), which contained numerous autograph facsimile statements about the prospects for World Peace. It was prepared by the World League for Peace with the approval of the League of Nations. “The religion of peace ia so beautiful that it can be practised without having faith.
