New York: Random House, 1937. First published in 1824 and subsequently compared to Burton's Arabian Nights, this classic is reprinted in a new edition with exquisite color illustrations, as well as line drawings, by Cyrus LeRoy Baldridge, who traveled throughout Persia (modern day Iran) to retrace the journeys of Hajji himself. The book includes a Foreword by Christopher Morley. This First Edition Thus has the 1937 date on the copyright page, as well as on the Title Page in Roman Numerals. Description:
Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, 1958. This early trade printing (with a notice on the dust jacket front panel that this is a Pulitzer Prize-winning book) is in Fine condition, with a Very Good+ dust jacket with its original price intact. Over the years, this book has become a classic of Beltway double-dealing, intrigue, power-hunger, and blackmail, in which a conservative, married senator is threatened to be outed over his gay past, prophetically showing how political gay-baiting hasn't changed much over the last half-century. The book was made into a powerful 1962 movie. The book is bound in gray cloth covers with die-stamped blue and red spine titles. The book is tightly bound, with slight offsetting to the endpapers. The pages are clean and bright throughout, with no stains, marks, or tears. The dust jacket has some edge rubbing at the spine crown and a tiny chip. I've placed the dust jacket into an archival Brodart protective sleeve. The book measures 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches…

Description:
New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1972. This fascinating account of the 17th Century history of the Netherlands that produced a golden age in painting is beautifully represented not only by the author's insightful text, but by the work of 77 prominent Dutch artists as seen through 178 illustrations, including 48 pages of full-color plates. The book also includes biographical sketches of all the represented artists in the rear, followed by an extensive Index. Thus, this is a book on far more that just Rembrandt and Vermeer, about whom numerous books already exist. But all 77 of these Dutch artists are placed in context to the inspiring times in which they lived that helped create such equisite work by so many. The book is bound in brown cloth with die-stamped gilt spine titles. The book is tight bound, clean and bright throughout. There is a small gift inscription on the front end paper. (Being originally from Albany myself, I'm grateful to the movie company for restoring the Boulevard Restaurant on Central Avenue to the way it was in the 1930s. This historic Art Deco restaurant was dead as Marley's Ghost but was given a new lease on culinary life. However, I don't know if it's still surviving in the current economic climate.). Description:
Philadelphia: Theodore Fresser The author of this book remains anonymous (unless Theodore Fresser is both publisher and author). Nor is a publishing date provided, but the book is signed and dated April 6, 1907 by its original owner on the front free endpaper, so it was probably published in 1906 or 1907. According to the author's Introduction, the Dresden Opera House had burned to the ground about four years earlier, and the destruction included various manuscripts. Among these was the only score of Josquin Dorioz' opera "Alcestis." Since the music itself could not be restored, the book is actually a novelization of this lost opera and how Dorioz came to write it. This is probably the first and only edition. Thus, it is a most unusual collectible for opera admirers. The book is in Very Good condition, with beige cloth covers, black borders, and die-stamped gilt titles on the front panel and spine. There is light wine-colored staining on the rear panel. (See photo of book.) The…
