Description:
1951. Very Good. Very Good. One sheet, toned at the edges, two creases running horizontally, and with some minor handling wear. A typed letter signed by Spillane and with a few pencil manuscript additions in the margins. Here Spillane writes to Elliot [?] about his ambivalence regarding appearing in Newsweek. In the second paragraph, Spillane voices his dissatisfaction with his agent, who apparently never forwards Spillane his mail. Spillane then closes the letter with a reference to working on new material, possibly Kiss Me, Deadly given the date of this letter.

Description:
London: Edward Arnold, 1906. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Inscribed by Skinner on the front endpaper and with the original mailing label with Skinner's handwriting tipped in on the half-title page. About Good in the red publisher's cloth, faded on the spine, generally rubbed, torn along the top half of the back joint. Square, some reading wear, clean pages. A seemingly pleasant account of Skinner's time in Abyssinia--today's Ethiopia. He writes in the Preface, "For my part, I bring back pleasant memories of a kind and light-hearted race, whose grave courtesy and sometimes affection I am not likely ever to forget. I rejoice over the face that I took to these people from a great Government a message of goodwill, unembittered by a single ungenerous thought, and that I had nothing to ask which they might not willingly grant." Robert P. Skinner served as the first U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, later serving as an Ambassador to Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Turkey.
