1916 Drawing 19.5 x 27 cm, pencil on thick tracing paper, signed Rud. Scheffler, 29.11.1916 (light foxing). A landscape drawing from the First World War Galicia by a post-impressionist painter and designer Rudolf Scheffler (1884-1973). He was born in Zwickau, Germany, studied in Royal Acadademy, Dresden (silver medal, 1912; Grand Prix de Rome, 1913), moved to the United States in 1924. Scheffler was a member of the Old Lyme (CT) colony of artists and is known by his mosaics including mosaic dome for the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury, Conn. and the State Office Bldg. in Columbus, Ohio.

Arseniusz Romanowicz (AR, 1910- 2008) and Piotr Szymaniak (PS, 1911-1967) designed some of the most interesting buildings in post-war Warsaw: Central Station, Eastern Railway Station, Ochota, Powiśle and Stadion stations. However they did not care about publicity and remained in the shade for most of their lives. The buildings themselves quickly deteriorated and until recent restorations and upgrades it was difficult to appreciate them. AR/PS is a collection of essays by Polish and foreign authors discussing the career of Romanowicz and Szymaniak from the 1930s to the 1990s, and nearly 200 old and new photographs, including unpublished materials from family archives. The Dewey Decimal Classification is a proprietary library classification system which allows new books to be added to a library in their appropriate location based on subject. It was first published in the United States by Melvil Dewey in 1876. The purpose of this abridgment has been to provide a short form of the Classification adapted to the needs of small and slowly growing libraries.

The fourth edition of Theodore Besterman's "A World Bibliography of Bibliographies" was published in 1965-66. It's a monumental edition which contains 6664 columns. Rowman and Littlefield in 18 separate publications gathered all the titles in some of the major fields. The volume on academic writings includes approximately 1,000 entries.

"Acta Apostolicae Sedis" is the official gazette of the Holy See, appearing twelve times a year. It was established by Pope Pius X in 1908. Complete set for the year 1929 contains among others documents the text of the Lateran Treaty between the Kingdom of Italy and the Holy See. This agreement recognized Vatican City as an independent state under the sovereignty of the Holy See (included a plan of the territory of the Vatican and plans of the buildings with extraterritorial privilege).

The work of Szyszko-Bohusz (1883 - 1948) perfectly illustrates the mental, cultural, artistic and political context in which modern architecture was born in Poland. He is one of the most important Polish architects of the first half of the twentieth century, who to a large extent shaped the space of modern Krakow, being at the same time one of the founders of the national myth of the revived Second Polish Republic. He was an extremely influential man, holding many important positions and realizing the most prestigious architectural projects of his time. The architect's work, built between tradition and the search for a new form in architecture, goes deeply to the essence of the processes taking place in the architecture of the early twentieth century.
