Toned, POI in blue pen to ffep: "Anne Grant/ May 28 1945/ Edinburgh." Else, clean and tight. In John Maxwell's wonderful original dust jacket: soiled, a number of closed tears and losses. Good+/ good+ Ruthven Todd (1914-1978), was a Scottish poet, artist, novelist, and William Blake expert. The year of publication was otherwise an annus horribilis for Todd, who had recently separated from his wife, Cicely (née Crew) and whose Bloomsbury flat was hit by a flying bomb, necessitating a move to Essex. The collection closes with poems on artists and writers, including Blake, Paul Klee, Picasso, Arthur Rimbaud and H. G. Wells.
