Oberholser died before the project of "paring down" was finished and it was Edgar Kincaid who agreed to continue the project without compensation." Fuertes (1874-1927) skill in painting these wonderful creatures so that they look alive, is much admired by birders today most of whom do not care for the melodramatic actors in feathers of Audubon.
