Published by George Routledge in London in partnership with Camden Press, Dalziel Brothers Engravers & Printers. First collection in book form, later printing (1873 or later - deduced from advertisements), hardcover without jacket, 18.5 x 14.5 cm, ix (self-effacing preface & t-o-c), 222 pp + 4 pp list of Illustrated Gift-Books, green boards - upper board has detailed gilt title and drawings, gilt lettering on spine, all edges gilt, sharp comic wood engravings, boards with bevelled edges. In Good Plus condition - wear at spine top and bottom, fading to spine, slightly cocked, corners bumped, spine rubbing, but overall in nice shape, internals clean with minmal toning. The wonderful engravings make this piece of Victoriana.

Nat Hentoff, the journalist renowned for his music writing and his work in the Village Voice and New Yorker, with a gritty, fast-paced detective story set in Greenwich Village.

Simon & Schuster, New York, Stated First Printing, 1954, signed by Bob Hope on preliminary page. Trade Paperback, pp. 308, 21 x 13 cm, Yellow Wraps with black titling and a photo of Bob Hope on the cover, illustrated with drawings by Ted Sally throughout. In Good Condition - Pages are clean and binding is firm, slant and twist to spine, covers are soiled. Nice bold signature. From the estate of book collector Albert Raman who attended the short-lived Eisenhower College, where one of the buildings was dedicated to Bob Hope, a regular visitor to campus. It's almost certain Albert Raman had these books signed personally.

Hardcover, no jacket (as issued), pp. 175, 23 x 15 cm, light blue boards with whimsical title design in black and gold, yellow endpapers. A very attractive special edition to benefit the distinguished artists' colony in New Hampshire, of which Michael Chabon is the Chair. Together with his publisher Harper Collins, he donated 1,000 copies for this limitation.

Little Brown and Company (Atlantic Monthly Press Publication), Boston, 1927, hardcover with dust jacket (uncommon), pp. 301, 23 x 16 x 5 cm, brown cloth boards with gilt title and auction hammer stamping, deckle edges (gilt top), many photographs and illustrations, jacket has illustration of 1920s auction house. Near Fine in Good jacket, book is solid and square with light scratches on top edge. The jacket (thin and brittle in its nature) has material missing at spine top and bottom.
