Description:
Baltimore: Pod Books, 1977. First edition. 12mo, unpaginated, saddle-stitched in illustrated oblong wraps illustrated by a drawing by Nancy Ackerman. One of 500 copies. Fugitive chapbook published by Kirby and Rosemary Malone under the Pod Books imprint, scarcer than the limitation would suggest. Not to be confused with the Abbatoir Editions edition. Very good with toning and a touch of foxing to wraps.

Description:
Berlin: Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, 1980. First edition. Oblong 4to, [108] pp, tapebound into photographically illustrated wraps. Illustrated with b/w photographs. Text in German. With texts by Janos Frecot, Julie Schauer, Walter Aue, and Ulrich Bischoff. Artist's book published in conjunction with the 1980 exhibition at NBK, which documents the bricks which the artist from the ruins of buildings in Berlin and installed in the gallery. The initial images are of the archeological sites themselves, but soon give way to a sustained passage of full bleed b/w photographs, one brick per page. The eroded shapes of the bricks, as well as the symbols, marks, and maker's marks on the bricks, their original significance now lost in time, become an opaque index to the destruction of the buildings, a projection of a sort of ghostly afterlife of 20th century labor. At the close of the exhibition, the bricks were returned to their original sites. One of the great and criminally overlooked artists' books…

Description:
New York: New Directions, 1959. First edition. 8vo, 246 pp, bound in blue cloth. Illustrated dust jacket designed by Donn Devita. Association copy, inscribed by Rexroth at the first blank in the year of publication to Charles Richards: "Happy Birthday Dear Charles. Kenneth Oct '59." A good association - Charles Richards and and his wife Janet were friends of Rexroth, and an important part of the California jazz scene. Janet chronicled some of this milieu in her underappreciated memoir Common Soldiers. This collection includes Rexroth's essay "Some Thoughts on Jazz as Music, as Revolt, as Mystique." Near fine, with some light fading to extremities of cloth, a couple small stains, and a touch of dustiness to the edges of the text block, in a very good dust jacket lightly chipped and nicked at extremities with a couple small closed tears.

Description:
San Francisco: Blue Notes, 1983. 4to, 20 pp. incl. covers, saddle-stapled wraps. Offset printed in blue ink. Single issue of the early personal computing zine, which positions itself on the cover of this issue as being "an informational alternative to the rigors of digesting PC Magazine every month." The zine was printed in blue in homage to the blue side panels of IBM Mainframes. This issue includes the first installment of Harry Logan's "Com Corner," dedicated to telecommunications and computing, and includes a tutorial on Bulletin Board Systems (BBS), a review of the strategy game Pits and Stones, Bill Weil's Bits and Bytes column, and more. Scarce. At the time of this issue the group had 300 members, suggesting a small print run (and even smaller for the earlier issues). A scarce early pc zine. Old fold line, and some minro rusting to staple, toning to the covers, but a sound very good example.

Description:
Amsterdam: NBTA, 1983. 4to, unpaginated, side-stapled wraps. Printed in black and white, with two color covers to the second number. Profusely illustrated. Text in Dutch. The first two issues, of only three published, of this anarchist zine issued by the NBTA, the Dutch union that was against compulsory labor. The union was started by the infamous squatter and anarchist Bo Baden, who would later become famous for jumping up on a table during a debate over cruise missiles in the House of Representatives. The group was disbanded in 1996. Rare. OCLC locates only one holding, of the second number, at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. That record suggests that there was a 3rd number, though we've not seen it and OCLC locates no holdings. The periodical preceded the later periodical by the group entitled Luis Duider.

An offprint from the Archiv für Kriminologie of a rather infamous case of an unnamed engineer who suffered from the compulsion of tattooing others against their will, and who was unable to have sexual intercourse unless his partner was also tattooed.
