Mylne was surveyor of St. Paul's Cathedral and Chief Engineer for the New River Company. This is a scholarly work. Numerous b&w illustrations. 220pp.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Panama: I.L. Madura, Jr., 1915. This is a folding promotional map, with the date approximate. All 11 small sheets of text are present in the form of a folded brochure, with the verso containing the full printed color map as described in the title, with image measuring 18 x 22 inches. Several small b&w images are in the text, and the map itelsf has mulitple images including elevations and numerous other details. The cover of the brochure is also in cover, with an image of Balboa, with the Panamania crest at the back. Detailed canal statistics are inside the front cover. The brochure itself measures roughly 9 x 4.25 inches, and is overall in very good conditioin with no major flaws..

London: James Imray & Son (89 & 102 Minories), 1876. Enormous rolled blue-back chart from this prominent publisher. This is oriented more west to east, given the configuration of the Irish Channel (St. George's Channel). As always, loaded with detail. Generally very good, with 1 small tear mid channel, not seriously affecting image. Details include elaborate depth soundings throughout, the 'Lights on Coast of Scotland' and a detail list of bearings. Insets include the Firth of Clyde, Belfast Lough, Douglas Bay, North Rocks & c., Carlingford Lough, Lough Foyle, South Coast of Man (complete island on map image), Milford Haven, Lundy Island, Tuskar Bocks & c. , Holyhead Bay. Belfast Bay is part of the main map region. This chart measures 74x40 inches. Imray's firm was a descendent of that of John Hamilton Moore. Gov't Printing Office, Washington DC, 1900. G, large 8vo HB, due to bumped and rubbed cover and early splitting of front interior binding. The book is still reasonably tight (no DJ) and the interior caontents are very good; the 5 maps (4 folding, 3 double page-- Territorial Growth of the Uni ted States, Map by Franquelin in 1684, Moll's map 1710, Map of Alaska, Map of Hawaiian Islands) are all in excellent condition, three of which are colored. All 7 b&w portraits (Thomas Jefferson in 1803, Barbe Marbois, Robert R. Livingston, President Monroe, William H. Seward, President Polk, Thomas H. Benton) are also in excellent condition. This is a very interesting book..

Bookplate of The Union League Club-New York on front pastedown. The facsimile map of Lyne's survey is tipped-in. This one of 142 plate paper copies (another 10 were done on Japan paper), 115 pp including corrections. Numerous engravings in text. A nice facsimile and discussion of an early map of New York.. Limited. Cloth. Very Good.
