There is also a penned quotation on p. 115 by Lillian Gatlin. We believe this is the same Lillian Gatlin who was the first woman to fly across the continental United States in 1922. Previous errors are corrected in pencil and additionally "have" p. 162 line 6 had been corrected in pencil to "has". The volume is edge rubbed, has a newspaper clipping between the front pastedown and endpaper causing off-setting to both, and has four sets of pages with California flora inserted between, one of which has left imprints on the other leaf. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is edge rubbed with a few chips and short closed tears, some with associated creasing. We left the inserted foliage undisturbed, because, well, it lends a flowery touch to the text.

The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a plastic sleeve, has edge and fold chips (to a depth of 1/4" on the top of the front panel), is abraded on the spine crown, and has some light soiling on the rear panel.

The volume is lightly bumped on the spine ends, has a tiny snag to the cloth on the top front edge, and the spine lettering is a shade less intense than that of the front panel. The endpapers and immediate adjacent leaves have light foxing, there is a 1927 Christmas inscription on the front endpaper, and the penultimate leaf is chipped on the fore-edge. Even with faults, this is an attractive very good copy.

Both volumes have marble patterned pastedowns and endpapers, lightly age toned pages and a bookstore stamp and No. 120 on the half title pages. Overall - very good. Text is in Spanish. Light green cloth stamped in gilt and green, with pale red borders. 75 full page illustrations and accuracy was not an issue in this binding as the list of illustrations calls for 74. Additionally, some precede the page listed, some follow the listed page, a few are a full leaf past the listed page and 1 or 2 are two full leaves past. In one instance there are two different illustrations back to back, but the listing only mentions one. The volume is The volume is lightly edge rubbed, has some soiling, is spine toned, and the gilt is fading. Both hinges are cracked, exposing the webbing, and there is an occasional chip and tear to the lightly toned leaves.
