Collection of 34 original stereophotos (3 D) on cards of the old Jewish quarter in Amsterdam.Taken by the Amsterdam municipal photographer Nico Swaager (1910 - 1983), who worked for the municipal Building and Housing Service from the late 1920's on. One of his tasks in the early 1930's was to produce a systematic photographic record of the streets in two Amsterdam areas: the old Jewish quarter, and the workingclass neighbourhood Jordaan. During that time the local government developped plans to tear down part of these quarters as a consequence of the deteriorating quality of the houses.
