Ottawa: Queen's Printer, 1969 This is a first edition, later printing of a pictorial celebration of Canada across the seasons with text by Bruce Hutchison to celebrate Canada's Centennial. Gift inscription reads, "At last - with best wishes, Sheldon Chumir Aug/71." At that time, Sheldon would have been working for the Department of Justice as a lawyer. He was also a Rhodes Scholar, a Calgary MLA and a civil rights champion. He died of cancer in 1992. The Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership was founded as the result of his bequest. Book is in Near Fine Condition and slipcover is in Very Good condition. This is an extremely heavy book and would be of interest to local Albertans.

Langley, B.C., Canada: Omega Publications, 1982 As the title implies, this is a proposed model constitution for Canada, written by a former Social Credit/Progressive Conservative MP and an American constitutional lawyer with Canadian connections. It includes a constitutional history, a critique of the constitution repatriated by Pierre Elliot Trudeau and a proposed replacement. It raises many issues arising in this Covid era, and has a very definite 'Made in Alberta' slant. The text is very clean, square and solid, the cover is rubbed at the edges and has a light crease to the front and a crease and a one inch tear plus crease to the lower back cover.

It Is In Good Solid Condition, With Some Foxing, Browning And Rubbing To Corners, But With No Glaring Flaws. Both Foldout Map And Chart Are Present. A Few Of The 244 Pages Show Some Underlining. The Boards Are Rust Colored With Some Staining And Rubbing, Gilt Spine Titles Still Legible And Brown Top Stain Still Present. The book was part of an auction lot from the estate of John Lecky, and the Bookplate Is Presumed To Be That Of his grandfather, H.R. Macmillan, Cc Cbe, Founder Of The H.R. Macmillan Export Company, Which Later Merged To Become Macmillan-Bloedel. There Is An Owner Signature "Roberts" Facing The Bookplate.
