A splendid publication issued for relatives and friends. The illustrations are excellent of which three are of mining camps and three of oil fields. The text covers his mining days in Colorado, Mexico, Nevada, the Comstock and Kingston mines, his oil seeking days in California and later Mexico. Paher Nevada 2152: A bibliography of Canfield, this books contains a chapter on his mining experiences at Ruby Hill and other Nevada sites. Numerous personal letters are quoted from, giving a glimpse of Canfield's optimistic attitude, every in the fact of many difficulties" Includes his financial involvement with E. H.Doheny and others in the oil business in the Coalinga and Kern River District. An interesting man who secured great wealth and also lost it and regained it. Cowan IV:672. Howes W384.
